I shared this with my 6-year-old niece following she tired of playing with my cats and chickens on a current go to, and she instantly dug in, taking videos and photos of the cats, the garden, the chickens, and everybody within the family. She figured it out correct away, despite not having much pc experience, and we couldn’t tear her away from her Roly Poly and Scooby games (I’d filled it up with some apps).

When testing it out myself, I actually had a blast playing all of the games. The Roly Poly was like a little kid version of the Marble Madness game for Wii. You tilt the LeapFrog LeapPad to create the marble move and guide it to every of the letters in turn to spell out a word, then into the hole for the subsequent round. So fun!

And Jewel Train had a lot of cool mazes and puzzles to determine, once once more, even the 32-year-old auntie enjoyed it. The two of us had fun together playing Pet Pad and creating a pet after which making it do tricks by tracing letters. I liked blowing into the microphone to blow-dry the pet following a bath – that was a cool touch.

My niece could use some assist in studying to sound out and spell words, so her dad was stoked to let her play with it although he usually disapproves of computers for some odd reason.

So, the good:

  1. The camera and video is super-fun.
  2. The way it registers the direction it is facing and turns the screen to accomodate.
  3. The tilt-action of the Roly Poly game.
  4. Loved the hybrid movie/ ebook/ audiobook (I chose the Vehicles ebook) – what a great method to get reluctant readers confident reading.
  5. Cartridge slot for expansion with LeapPad and Explorer games (not compatible with some of the older machines’ games).
  6. Enjoyable, fun games with different and unusual actions that incorporated studying in a natural way.
  7. Can put pictures and videos from LeapPad to computer to share on Facebook or print out.
  8. Great for car rides and when littlies are too tired to be sociable and enjoyable – lets them have something to focus on and understand with while having fun.
